PREPARING FOR PRESCHOOL
To make your child’s stay in Preschool a happy and pleasant experience, it is important to follow a few guidelines:
Bring your child to the pre-school before starting. This will help them get familiar with the surroundings and staff and let them see other children enjoying their experience.
Spend time settling your child into the daily routine.
Once you say you are leaving, say "Goodbye" and leave.
Staying longer if your child is upset will only lengthen the distress.
Children usually do settle once parents have left.
NEVER just slip away - always tell the child you are going.
Children need to learn that you will return. Some children may need to be left a short time at first, gradually lengthening the time you are away.
It is important to be on time to pick up your child for the first few days.
It is fine to ring the Preschool when you get home or to work if you are concerned.
