FAMILIES AND PRE-SCHOOL

Pre-school is not just an experience for your child but for your family. It is a time when children are growing and learning. Children love to have their family share in their adventure and as a pre-school we believe that families should be given the opportunity participate. Throughout the year there will be a variety of ways which enable you to join your child at pre-school:

Stay and Play You are always welcome to spend sometime with your child when you drop them off in the morning. So if you have the time spend it at pre-school and let your child show you around, watch them play or get to know the staff who are always happy to talk to you about your child’s progress.

Parent Volunteer Roster This is an important part of pre-school life for both the running of the pre-school and for your child. If you have the time we would very much welcome your assistance either for half-a-day or a full-day once or twice a term. Volunteering benefits both the pre-school, the child and the volunteer:

 We need some assistance in the kitchen cutting food and washing-up.

 Children love having people who are special to them volunteer, it makes them feel special. (This includes Mum, Dad, Carers, Grandparents etc.)

 Volunteers get plenty of opportunity to participate in the days program and really see what their child does at pre-school.

While we understand that not all parents can volunteer we recommend the experience to those who can as it lets you spend special time with your child.

Special Events Throughout the year the Preschool has a number of special events some during the day and others at night. These are fun events which:

 enable your child to show you what they have been learning;

 give you an opportunity to spend some time with your child in their world;

 let you talk to our staff about your child’s progress.

Past events include: a family night picnic, bike-a-thon, children’s disco, special shows, Fathers & Grandfathers Night, Working Parents Night, Easter Hat Parade, Graduation Day. These events are always well attended and enjoyable, we hope you can join us.

( It is important to remember that on these nights you are responsible for your child, not staff)

Progress Interviews The best way to discuss a specific issue or find out about your child's progress is to contact your child’s teacher to make a time to meet with them. The beginning and end of a day are particularly busy times. While staff are always happy to talk to you they will only be able to give you their full attention if you make an appointment to speak to them individually.
